Pinhole

INTRODUCTION:

A camera is just a light proof box with a hole you can open and close quickly. To get a picture you need light sensitive material. (Film or Photo Paper) You can make a camera out of any container that can be sealed for light. Coffee cans, Tennis Ball cans, shoeboxes, you name it. All you have to have is a small hole on one side, and a way of holding photographic paper on the opposite side.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: TAKING PICTURES – WHAT TO DO

1. Load your camera in the Darkroom – remember your paper size template
2. Go outside and take pictures – start with 20 seconds for a smaller box, 30 or 40 for a larger one.
3. Keep track of your times, and develop your ‘negative’ print to see what worked.
4. Repeat until you have 4 good shoots
– Pose in at least one.
– Have an object VERY close to the camera in one.
– Get a building in one.

DO NOT CUT OR TRIM PICTURES AFTER DEVELOPING
– THEY MUST MATCH YOUR CAMERA OR YOU DO NOT GET MARKS!

5. Make positives of your best 2 prints – just like you did with your shadow print.
6. When complete, put negatives and positives inside the camera .
7. Complete Self Evaluation and hand in Camera and Pictures for marks:

KEY CRITERIA:

Neat Camera, 4 NEGATIVES photos with visible detail, 2 POSITIVES, good developing

CHALLENGE:

Make sure all your photos are sharp (in focus) and have good black & while contrast
